"Art is a pause. I like the Renaissance period…. I hate Rococo, because it’s too sweet looking, too over the top, the French Rococo with all the women running around in Little Bo Peep outfits and little lambs--that I hate. [I like] Titian or... oh, not Raphael. I like Rembrandt. I like Rembrandt because... maybe you’re getting closer to Realism, but you still have heroic things. Then I also like Goya, but then you’ve got those acid tones and such and that’s sort of going weird the other way, but then I also like... David. Because of history, I like history and so David with those noble paintings he did during... Napoleon’s period." [more]
